How to Machine Embroider a Snowflake & Monogram on a Waffle Weave Kitchen Towel ❄️🧵

Adding a custom design and monogram to a waffle weave kitchen towel is a great way to create a beautiful, personalized gift or seasonal décor! Follow these steps to achieve crisp, professional embroidery on this textured fabric.

What You’ll Need:

✅ Waffle weave kitchen towel. I used these from Amazon and they are very nice quality: https://amzn.to/4her7CY Embroidery machine & compatible design file✅ Water-soluble topper stabilizer (like Solvy)✅ Cut-away or tear-away stabilizer (medium weight)✅ Embroidery thread & bobbin thread✅ Embroidery hoop (size appropriate for your design)✅ Temporary spray adhesive or embroidery tape

Step-by-Step Guide:

1️⃣ Prepare the Towel

  • Wash and dry your towel to preshrink it before embroidering.

  • Iron it flat to remove wrinkles and make hooping easier.

2️⃣ Hooping & Stabilizing

  • Place medium-weight cut-away stabilizer underneath the towel.

  • Spray a light layer of temporary adhesive on the stabilizer, then smooth the towel onto it.

  • Add a water-soluble topper on top of the towel to prevent stitches from sinking into the fabric.

  • Hoop all layers securely, ensuring the fabric is taut but not stretched.

3️⃣ Positioning the Design

  • Load your design onto the embroidery machine. I used a snowflake design I made and monogram for a winter themed, personalized towel.

  • Use your machine’s alignment tools (if available) to center the design where you want it.

4️⃣ Start Embroidering

  • Begin stitching the snowflake design first. If using multiple colors, follow the machine prompts for thread changes.

  • Once the snowflake is complete, stitch the monogram in your chosen font.

5️⃣ Finishing Touches

  • Carefully remove the towel from the hoop.

  • Tear away or trim excess stabilizer from the back.

  • Gently rinse or dab away any remaining water-soluble topper.

  • Press the towel with a warm iron (avoid direct heat on the embroidery).

Tips for Best Results:

  • Use a sharp embroidery needle (75/11 or 80/12).

  • Stick with high-quality polyester or rayon thread for durability.

  • Test stitch your design on scrap fabric before embroidering the towel.

  • If your towel puckers after stitching, a light press with steam can help smooth it out.

Now you have a beautiful, custom-embroidered kitchen towel perfect for winter or holiday gifting! ❄️🎁
